voltwerk sells wind power projects with 80 megawatt capacity
- Project volume of 95 million Euros
- Power for around 50,000 homes
Hamburg, February 16: voltwerk AG continues to extend its activities in the wind sector. The company has recently signed an agreement with an international investor regarding the development and completion of a total of 44 wind power plants with a capacity of 80 megawatts. Wind turbines with an investment volume of around 95 million Euros are to be installed by mid-2006 in Soltau near Bremen and in the Wuerzburg area. With an annual output of about 150 million kilowatt hours, the plants will produce enough energy to supply power to a major city.
“The projects demonstrate the increasing significance of wind energy projects in Germany for international investors. The market for renewable energy is becoming increasingly interesting for institutional investors," explained Nikolaus Krane, Chief Executive of voltwerk AG. It is the largest wind energy transaction to date for the company which specializes in the financing of renewable energy projects. The wind farm in Soltau has been up and running since the end of December. There are 16 turbines which are 60-70 meters high that have a total output of 24 megawatts. With wind speeds at around 5.7 meters per second, the site is one of the windiest regions. The turbines in the Wuerzburg area are due to follow in the summer. While wind turbines from manufacturer AN Bonus were used for the Soltau site, Vestas turbines are to be used in the Wuerzburg area.
