Photovoltaic plant in Baar (Bavaria) places EPURON in top 10 thin-film solar parks developers in the world

-EPURON's largest free-field installation in Germany with a capacity of 4.8 megawatts

-2007,total of five thin-film solar parks with 15 megawatts capacity were installed in Germany; trend grows into 2008

Hamburg, January 16, 2008: EPURON GmbH has connected a large photovoltaic project – a capacity of 4.8 megawatts – to the public power grid in Baar, near Augsburg, Germany. This has placed EPURON’s thin-film solar plant as the sixth largest in the world. Last year, four additional thin-film solar parks were built in southern Germany with a total capacity of around10 megawatts.EPURON plans to extend its commitment to the German photovoltaic market this year by exceeding the installed capacity achieved in 2007. The first thin-film solar parks are currently being planned and approved.

During a three month time frame, approximately 67,000 thin-film modules were built by SunTechnics, a sister company of EPURON, on an area over 130,000 square metres located in Baar.Conergy's SolarLinea mounting systems were used. The plant produces roughly five million kilowatt hours per year, which is enough to supply approximately 1,400 four-person households with environmentally friendly solar power. This also brings an annual savings of over 3,500 tonnes of the environmentally harmful gas CO2.

"Thanks to the project in Baar, we are pleased to be part of the world's largest developers for thin-film solar parks. This technology is proven in our company to be a viable alternative for the implementation of large-scale plants in Germany. We have been using thin-film modules for approximately the last two years; and within that period, we have completed seven large projects with a total capacity of around 20 megawatts – that have all been meeting their output projections. This pleases not only us, but also our investors," said Nikolaus Krane, member of the managing board at EPURON.
