Positive development of EPURON’s bioenergy sector
Hamburg, 18 February 2009 - Conergy subsidiary EPURON GmbH has sold two biogas plants with a total output of 1.25 megawatts to CEE Bioenergie Holding. The financial holding company is developing its own portfolio of biogas projects by acquiring existing biogas plants and installing new medium-sized plants (500 KW to 2 MW). Through the acquisition of both EPURON plants, CEE Bioenergie has resumed its investment activities. According to C. Cornelius Grau and Dr. Harald Berninghaus, managing directors of CEE Bioenergie, EPURON has a very attractive biogas portfolio. “We are planning further joint projects”, said the biogas experts. CEE Bioenergie is part of the investment portfolio of CEE Conetwork Erneuerbare Energien Holding GmbH & Co. KGaA, based in Hamburg, which is one of the most renowned German investors in the field of renewable energy.
“The deal with CEE Bioenergie shows us once again that we have made the right strategic decision when it comes to biogas”, said Moritz Böcking, head of bioenergy at EPURON. “The sale follows the financial successes of 2008: since the beginning of last year we have managed to place six biogas projects with a total output of 8.8 megawatts and an investment volume of more than 20 million euros. We are looking forward to the success of this joint project between CEE Bioenergie and EPURON and plan to develop this partnership in the future.”
The biogas plants, which CEE has acquired, are situated in Gröna and Schwanebeck in Saxony-Anhalt and generate annually approx. 9.4 million kWh of electrical energy. This provides electricity for approx. 1,300 households in the region.
